Change the user agent in one tab only
You want one tab to present itself to servers as another browser or device, for example Safari on an iPhone, while your other tabs keep your browser’s own user agent.
Steps
- Install Wirelet, then open the page in the tab you want to change.
- Open Wirelet: click its icon in the toolbar, or press Alt+Shift+Y (Control+Shift+Y on a Mac).
- In “User agent · this tab”, choose a preset, for example “Safari · iOS”.
- Reload the tab.
- To go back to your browser’s own user agent, choose “Default” in the same list.
Presets: Chrome (Windows, macOS, Android), Edge (Windows), Safari (macOS, iOS) and Firefox (Windows, Android). For a value of your own, open the profile Wirelet created and choose “Custom”.

What changes, and what doesn’t
- The User-Agent header the servers receive, and the Client Hints that go with it: set to match a Chrome or Edge preset, removed for Safari and Firefox, whose browsers don’t send them.
- Only this tab: Wirelet creates a profile bound to it. Your other tabs are unchanged, and the user agent stops applying when you close the tab.
- Scripts in the page still see your browser’s own values (
navigator.userAgent). - When you open Wirelet from the toolbar, your browser gives this tab temporary access to its site, until the tab leaves it. To keep it, or for the page’s requests to other sites, allow access when Wirelet offers it.
- The user agent and “This tab only” are Pro features, included during early access.
